The Emotions, are the Hutchinson Family

About the Emotions

Wanda, Sheila and Jeanette Hutchinson grew up in Chicago's South Side.  They began singing at the ages of three, four and five years old.  Their multi-talented father, lead singer and guitarist Joseph Hutchinson, Sr., (passed in 1985) not only taught the girls how to play piano, but he also taught them how to read music and how to harmonize together.  They toured the gospel performing as "The Hutchinson Sunbeam"  with their father.  The sisters appeared on the Jerry Van Dyke Show, Jubilee Showcase, a weekly radio and television broadcast from Chicago, Illinois.  During their travels with various other gospel singers, they sang in concerts with Mahalia Jackson, The Caravans, Wings of Heaven, and many others.  An original song, written by Sheila, was the first secular recording that launched the singing sisters into the national spotlight, with a song called, “So I Can Love You”.  Many other songs were written by the trio as they became nationally and internationally acclaimed.  Their multi-platinum recordings made in the late 70’s and 80’s, are still enjoyed in the twenty first century throughout the world still being played and sold in the radio and internet.  “Best of My Love”, “Boogie Wonderland”, “ I Don’t Wanna Loose Your Love”, “Don’t Ask My Neighbor” “Let’s Groove Tonight” have been heard in films and commercials often, continues to be heard in the 21st century.
